Thanks for this essay. You must have had some really interesting experiences blending Classics and astronomy. I guess I just have a worry about one part of your argument, where you seem to be saying that since the alt-right uses ‘Ultimate Thule,’ nobody can use that phrase without complicity in white supremacy. Is that your argument? (I hope I haven’t misunderstood it). I just worry that that might make it really hard for people to use lots of classical terms, e.g. ‘Sparta,’ which has also been taken up by the alt-right, without being accused of complicity in white supremacy. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that problem.
